The southernmost, permeable adjustable-type groin, which is meant to hold sand in the area, located behind the Islander Club, is complete. The groin’s concrete deck was put on the groin last week. Public Works Director Juan Florensa said strong frontal-boundary systems, which led to strong waves again on Monday, have slowed progress on the northernmost groin. The contractor must be off the beach by May 1, and Florensa remains hopeful the project will be complete before sea-turtle nesting season begins.
