A crash Tuesday morning on U.S. 41 at Field Road killed a Sarasota man and sent another to the hospital with serious injuries, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.

Stephen Witzer, 71, was killed in the 8:43 a.m. crash, which left his 2017 Ferrari 488 Spyder in a parking lot west of the highway. The 2016 Acura TLX of 88-year-old Graham Hildebrand came to rest in the center lane of the southbound side of the highway.

According to the FHP, the Acura driven by Hildebrand was northbound on U.S. 41 when it turned left at Field Road, into the path of Witzer’s southbound Ferrari.

Both men wore seatbelts, and the collision was not alcohol-related, the FHP reported.

The crash remains under investigation.
