The Florida Department of Transportation soon will clean the sound wall in front of the Greenbrook community, along State Road 70.

It is located roughly between Greenbrook and Lakewood Ranch boulevards.

Spokesman Robin Stublen said FDOT is working on a scope for a contract to have the wall cleaned and painted. Work will not begin for a few months, as bids have not yet been received.

It will be repainted in its original color, or close to it.

How often are sound walls typically cleaned?

“It depends,” Stublen said. “You look at them and sometimes they are good. We are responsible for the maintenance of our walls. There’s no timeframe. If nothing needs to be done, we don’t do anything.”

The State Road 70 wall was completed in February 2006 and is 4,435 feet long.
