Early voting for the primary election begins today at four locations in Sarasota.

Voters will choose their party’s candidate for governor, U.S. senator, U.S. representative, attorney general, county commissioner, hospital board and charter review board.

The winners of those races will go on to face the winner of the opposing party’s primary in November, if there is a candidate from the opposing party.

However, a number of nonpartisan races will be decided in this primary. They include three school board seats and one for county judge.

The school board district one race has three candidates, Dr. Carol Todd, Dr. Joseph Neunder and Barry Woolf. If the leading candidate does not get 50% of the vote in the primary, a runoff between the top two vote getters will be held in November.

The Sarasota early voting locations are:

Supervisor of Elections Office, 2001 Adams Lane
North County Library, 2801 Newtown Blvd.
Fruitville Library, 100 Coburn Road
Gulf Gate Library, 7112 Curtiss Ave.
