Downtown Sarasota parking meter rates rise to the maximum of $1 per hour starting today. The rates will stay that way for the next six months.

Hourly rates are in effect 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, excluding holidays.

Users are not required to pay for a full hour, however, when paying with coins.

The rates will adjust again May 1 – October 31 and will be a maximum of 50 cents per hour during that six-month period.

The seasonal, hourly $1 rates are the result of an understanding reached in July between downtown business owners and the city of Sarasota.

Disabled parkers with a valid disabled parking license plate or placard are not required to pay on-street parking rates. Payment is requirement in public parking garages and lots.
