The Sarasota County School District is changing up its look when the school year begins, as staff unveiled a new logo for the district this week.
“We felt the time was right to refresh the district logo to reflect the fact that we are a progressive, contemporary school system located in a beautiful place,” said Online Communications Specialist Mina Ajrab, a Ringling College of Art and Design graduate who oversaw creation of the new logo, in a news release. “We also believed it was important to get input from the public and district employees, so we conducted an online survey asking community members to choose their favorite logos from among nine options.”
More than 2,000 people responded to a district survey, and the logo was selected by more than 60% of respondents, according to the release. The district will roll out the new artwork gradually, beginning with online and electronic documents.
“I love it," said School Board member Jane Goodwin at a workshop this week. "This is something we’ve needed for a long time — it’s a great image for the district and the community.”
