Deputies arrest robbery suspects

The Sarasota County Sheriff's Office has two men in custody suspected of pulling a gun during a drug deal gone awry Saturday, July 20.

Two men called deputies after 22-year-old Robert Rutledge and 17-year-old Earnest Arnold robbed the pair at gunpoint during a presciption-pill transaction. Officers stopped a vehicle matching the description near the intersection of Cattlemen Road and Center Pointe Drive after a short chase and discovered a handgun and about $900 cash.

Both were charged with two counts of robbery with a firearm, Arnold was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and Rutledge was charged with fleeing to elude and driving with a revoked license.
