DCA requests another week

The state’s Department of Community Affairs wants seven more days to render a decision.

The DCA is charged with deciding whether the Town Commission’s decision to adopt changes to its codes in May is consistent with the town’s Comprehensive Plan.

DCA assistant general counsel Lynette Norr sent another e-mail to town attorney David Persson and Islandside Property Owners Wednesday, Oct. 13, requesting one more week to render a decision that was supposed to be rendered on Oct. 13.

The request comes more than a month after the department asked for a 30-day extension on Sept. 13.

The Islandside Property Owners Coalition filed an administrative appeal July 14, challenging code changes approved by the Town Commission on May 3.

The Longboat Key Club and Resort submitted the seven changes to the code to diminish much of the legal challenges presented by IPOC, which opposes the club’s $400 million renovation-and-expansion project.
