The Second District Court of Appeals has upheld a decision by the Manatee County School Board to suspend a local high school teacher.

Braden River High School teacher Charles Willis formally was suspended in May for inappropriately using Facebook. Willis had "friended" more than 100 students on the social networking site, to which he had posted profane and sexually lewd images.

Willis in late August had appealed the School Board's decision.

The court on Feb. 1, however, affirmed the School Board's decision to suspend Willis.
