Manatee County commissioners today approved a reduction of the speed limit on Rye Road.
The speed limit will change from 55 mph to 45 mph from County Road 675 to State Road 64.
“We received a lot of people in the neighborhood asking us to lower the speed limit,” Commissioner Betsy Benac said. “I think this is a really good thing.”
County staff said the change likely will go into effect within two weeks.
