OUT OF GAS
12:15 p.m. — 1500 block of Main Street

Sept. 18

A BLACK MARK
7:30 a.m. — 0 block of Central Avenue
Property damage: A security guard called the police after discovering vandalism on a statue outside of the building where she works. Someone had drawn on the statue with a black marker; the drawing was indistinct. The guard said the drawing was not on the statue at midnight, and she was not sure if security cameras captured the act of vandalism overnight. A maintenance worker at the building said the drawing would come off with no issues.

MALL BRAWL
2 p.m. — 3500 block of South Tamiami Trail
Theft: A police officer was at a mall walking toward the security office when he saw a worker from a nutrition store chasing after another man. The worker yelled at the police officer to help because the man had stolen something from the store. The officer ran after the man into the parking lot, yelling at him and identifying himself as a police officer. The man attempted to get into his car, and the officer attempted to take him into custody. The man punched the officer in the face and kept trying to get into his car. The officer and the worker both attempted to subdue the man, continuing to fight as the man resisted. Eventually, they were able to handcuff the man, and found an item from the store valued at $50. The worker recovered the item, and an officer transported the man to jail.

WINDOW PAIN
8:24 p.m. — 1600 block of Main Street
Property damage: The facility manager at a church noticed a broken window while he was walking around the building. He told an officer he was unsure of when the incident may have occurred or who might have been responsible. The officer noted there were no objects found around the window that might have been used to break the window. The facility manager said he just needed a report written for the church.
