CAR SHOW CRASHER
8:38 a.m. — 0 block of Central Avenue
Misc. officer: The organizer of a car show reported that someone had driven around the barricades set up around the event site and parked their car illegally. There were signs posted stating there was no parking in the area during the event and that violators would be towed. While the organizer was talking to officers about his complaint, he said that he did not have as many cars show up as he expected, and he did not need to use the space where the car was parked at that time. The organizer said he would reach out to the police if he needed further action taken.

SWING AND A HIT
9:18 a.m. — 5200 block of North Tamiami Trail
Property damage: A woman reported that her car is repeatedly getting damaged when other tenants in her apartment complex open their car door into her car. She said that, during the night, another tenant who parked next to her opened their car door and hit the side of her car, scratching it. The woman did not contact the tenant, but she wanted the incident documented.

SAFETY FIRST
10:51 a.m. — 900 block of University Parkway
Lost/found property: A man called from out of town to report he lost his gun while he was staying at a local hotel. The man said he was packing his belongings and headed to his car when he last saw the gun. The man believes he may have dropped the case with the gun somewhere in the parking lot or while he was loading his belongings into the car. The hotel told the man they had not found his gun, and the police had received no reports regarding a found firearm in the area.

GREEN FIST
7:35 p.m. — 2800 block of Wood Street
Dispute: A man called the police and reported he was in a dispute with his neighbor’s lawn maintenance worker. The man said his home is for sale, and he’s trying to keep it nice for showings. He said the lawn maintenance worker blew grass clippings from his neighbor’s yard all over his pool deck. He confronted the lawn maintenance worker about the clippings, and the worker began arguing with him and said he wanted to fight him. The man said the worker did not move toward him to start fighting, and the argument was verbal only. An officer told the man to call back if he had any further issues with the lawn maintenance worker.
