SODA JERK

1:55 a.m. — 400 block of North Lemon Avenue. Burglary — Structure. An employee at a restaurant reported that a man broke into a cabinet where a soda dispenser was stored. Surveillance footage showed the man reaching over a fence protecting the outside dining area and opening the cabinet; a short time later, the man returned and filled up a container from the soda dispenser. Later in the video, another man took soda from the dispenser after the cabinet had already been opened.

STICKY SITUATION
6:08 p.m. — 2100 block of North Washington Boulevard. Suspicion General. An employee at a convenience store reported a theft after a man walked out of the building with a box of honey buns. As he was leaving, the man threw $2 at the cashier and got into a car. Officers informed the employee that the incident did not qualify as a theft, because the honey buns only cost $1.79.

SHOUTING MATCH
6:12 p.m. — 900 block of Lemon Avenue. Dispute/Fight. Officers received a report of a man sitting at an intersection who seemed to be yelling at no one. When officers arrived on the scene, the man said he was yelling at two people who disrespected him. The man said he did not know either of the individuals. Officers advised the man to call police if he needed further assistance.

LOSING STREAK

3:08 a.m. — 3400 block of Norwood Court. Suspicion General. A woman reported that a group of people was being loud behind her neighbor’s residence. She also said one of the people ran through her yard with no clothes on. When contacted, the neighbor said they were just hanging out and that they would try to be quieter. The neighbor also said that at no point did anyone run across the yard with no clothes on.

EXCHANGE FOR THE WORSE
7:45 p.m. — 3000 block of North Tamiami Trail. Dispute/Fight. A woman attempted to return several items at a convenience store. After being informed that she couldn’t exchange the items, the woman became upset and began yelling. At one point, the store manager said, the woman walked behind the register and began cursing at the cashier. After being asked to leave several times, the woman exited the store.

DRUNK DIALING

2:20 a.m. — 2000 block of Bee Ridge Road. Harassing Phone Calls (Obscene). After being kicked out of a bar, a man made repeated harassing phone calls to the establishment later in the night. The bar’s owner said the man called 15 times in 45 minutes and threatened violence against the employees.

CHECK-IN
6:34 a.m. — 4000 block of South Tamiami Trail. Dispute/Fight. The manager of a restaurant reported that two women were sitting in the parking lot, refusing to leave the property. The manager said the women had caused a disturbance at the restaurant earlier in the morning and that she didn’t want them to return. The women told an officer that they were there to meet the manager of the restaurant to dispute a bill and complain about their service the previous night. The officer advised the women to attempt to settle the issue over the phone.
