TRASH TALK
8:40 a.m. — 2100 block of Eighth Street
Dispute: A man got into an argument with his neighbors after discovering trash in his side yard. The man told an officer that he believes the neighbors are throwing their garbage into the yard, and that this is an ongoing issue. A neighbor said the trash wasn’t his, and pointed out pieces of newspaper in several other yards in the area. The neighbor said he would take care of the trash in the future and picked up the garbage on the ground.
FELINE FLAP
12:30 p.m. — 400 block of South Lime Avenue
Dispute: A woman and her former neighbor were in an argument regarding a cat. The woman said she moved out of a house and left a cat for her family member to care for. The woman noticed the cat was missing from the exterior of the house, so she asked the neighbor about it. The neighbor said she thought the cat was abandoned, so she took the cat to be neutered and microchipped. She then brought the cat home and let it outside, and hadn’t seen the cat in a few days. The neighbor said, if she saw the cat around the neighborhood, she would make sure it was returned.
DIRTY DEEDS
8:14 p.m. — 3000 block of 31st Way
Suspicion: A woman reported that children had thrown dirt onto her porch. The woman said she left home, and when she returned there was a pile of dirt and a mousetrap placed at her front door. The woman believed three children living next door were responsible for the incident. The woman attempted to speak with their parents, but nobody answered the door.
BOUNCED CHECK-IN
5:57 p.m. — 4000 block of North Tamiami Trail
Dispute: An employee at a motel said a customer had not paid for his room for the night and refused to check out. The customer told the officer that he made a partial payment on the room and was waiting for someone to bring the remaining money. Eventually, the man agreed to leave, but explained that he had been staying there for several weeks and would need time to pack. The motel manager agreed to give him two hours to pack and said she would call the police again if further problems arise.
