Right house, wrong resident?
1:12 a.m. — 4900 block of Primrose Path. Suspicious Person. A woman looking onto her back porch and pool deck spied two people coming through her gate and onto the deck. When she turned on her back lights, they ran along her fence line. After the woman rushed to the front of her house, she spotted four people running north along the road. She said she was unable to describe any of them; she couldn’t even see whether they were male or female. When a deputy told her about a large number of intoxicated people roaming the area after the Turkey Trot pub crawl in the Village, she replied that these people did not appear drunk. They were not stumbling, she added. Then the woman told the deputy the previous owner of the home had had “suspicious activities going on” at the residence. She wondered if the people she had seen were looking for that prior resident, who had moved out about two months earlier.

3:04 a.m. — Intersection of Treasure Boat Way and Ocean Boulevard. Vehicle Burglary. A 21-year-old man reported that he had left his vehicle in a vacant lot at the Treasure Boat Way/Ocean Boulevard intersection to go into the Village that night with some friends. When he returned to the vehicle, he found the rear window had been smashed and his laptop computer and accessories were missing from the rear seat. However, two iPods on chargers in the front seat had not been disturbed. The man said he had hung some shirts in the window to conceal the computer equipment, so he felt someone must have been looking through cars before breaking into his. One of his friends had parked next to his vehicle, he said, and no one had disturbed the two laptops inside it.

Seeing red
4:45 p.m. — 1000 block of Point of Rocks Road. Disorderly Intoxication and Resisting an Officer without Violence. A deputy received a call about a suspicious person in a red Speedo making obscene gestures on the beach. When the deputy approached the 41-year-old man, the man was uncooperative. The man kept saying he had not been doing anything wrong. The deputy asked the man’s name several times, but the man refused to say what it was. The man added, “%#@& you,” every time the deputy asked him a question. The deputy added that the man seemed to be very intoxicated and was slurring his words. Witnesses reported the man had had several beers and a large drink that they said smelled strongly of alcohol. One witness told the deputy several people had approached the man to see if they could do something about his behavior, because small children were in the area. This witness added that he saw the man approach a toddler and try to pick up the child. The toddler’s mother grabbed the child and left the beach. Another witness reported the man kept pointing to his 15- and 16-year-old daughters and gesturing for them to come over to him. When they refused, the man walked over to them and stared at them. Then this witness began arguing with the man, and the man told the witness, “Now you want to fight.” When the witness asked the man to go away, the man walked back to his towel. After talking with the witnesses, the deputy started to walk the man back to the patrol car, but the man began dragging his feet. Once they reached the vehicle, the man struggled with the deputy and would not get into the back of the car. The deputy had to use a stunning device on the man. Then, with the help of witnesses, he was able to get the man into the patrol car and take him to jail.
