June 16
LIL’ PHOTO BOMBERS
6:48 p.m. — 6100 block of Midnight Pass Road.
Suspicious Person. A couple told police they observed an older man taking pictures of their children on Siesta Key Beach. When an officer confronted a man matching the description, he explained that he was visiting from New York and the children walked into his camera frame while he was taking pictures of his wife walking on the beach. The couple could not identify the suspect.

June 17
GET A ROOM
3:05 a.m. — corner of Avenida Madeira and Calle Minorga.
Indecent Exposure. Police found a nude couple inside a car in a public parking lot. A woman who saw the activity from a nearby residence reported the incident.

June 18
STARTLED STRAIGHT
10:20 p.m. — corner of Seaside Circle and Midnight Pass Road.
Open Container. A man dropped a glass bottle after a police patrol car stopped across the street from him. The man said the officer startled him, but police found liquid that smelled like beer in the broken bottle and noted that he seemed intoxicated. He was cited for having an open container of alcohol in a right of way after he was handcuffed for resisting while the officer was getting the man’s information.

June 20
LOVED AND LOST
7 a.m. — 1200 block of East Peppertree Lane.
Residential Burglary. A couple reported that a laptop, an iPad and two watches were stolen from their house, which also had a broken sliding-glass door. They believe the suspect was their daughter’s ex boyfriend, who had allegedly stolen money from them in the past.

June 21
VACATION INTERRUPTED
11:12 a.m. — 5500 block of Contento Drive.
Residential Burglary. A pool cleaner reported that there were two men in an unmarked vehicle detailing a boat behind one of his customers’ homes. When he returned for the next weekly pool cleaning, the sliding-glass door of the house was open, so he called police. The homeowner told an officer he was on vacation for two weeks and to lock up the house until he returns to assess the damage. Police left a note on the man’s refrigerator containing the case number with instructions to call the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office when he returns.

INSIDE JOB
3:07 p.m. — 5200 block of Ocean Boulevard. Grand Theft. A Siesta Key Village restaurant employee said she suspects a former co-worker stole her laptop, which was last seen behind the bar where she works. The woman suspected was recently terminated for theft.

PRIVATE PYLE!
9:48 p.m. — 900 block of Beach Road. Driving Under the Influence. Police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle after the driver ran a stop sign, swerved into another lane and threw a lit cigarette out the car’s window. The man initially stopped in the roadway, blocking traffic until an officer instructed him to move the vehicle into a parking lot, where he struck a parking block. During field sobriety tests, the man counted steps incorrectly and performed an about face when he was told to turn normally.
