WHOOPS...

9:46 p.m. — 600 block of Hibiscus Way

Property damage: An officer stepped out of his vehicle while conducting a property check. The gear-shift lever was not properly in park, allowing the vehicle to roll forward, hitting a low-hanging tree limb on the right side of the property’s driveway. Another officer was called to the scene, who photographed damage to the vehicle’s hood and the tree limb. The vehicle was still operable. The first officer returned the vehicle to the station and exchanged it for another.

JULY 26

PARTING GIFT

3:20 p.m. — 1100 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive

Found Property: A real estate agent walked into the police station saying he had a firearm he wanted to turn in. The man said he had been cleaning and inspecting a condo after a tenant finished their stay when he discovered a box. When he opened the box, he found a 9 mm semi-automatic pistol and two loaded eight-round magazines. The man was unable to contact the former tenant, and his supervisor advised him to turn the firearm in to police. Officers ran the gun’s serial number through their system and did not identify it as stolen. It was labeled as found property and placed in an evidence locker.

SUNSET, INTERRUPTED

7:46 p.m. — 2700 block of GMD

Animal: An officer responded to a call regarding a dog on the beach. Upon arrival, the officers saw a couple sitting on the beach, watching the sunset with a small dog. The officer advised the couple that dogs are not permitted on the beach. The couple said they were unaware of the prohibition and left the beach.
