Jan. 29
Temporary housing

7:14 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Public Service. A drug store employee called police about a homeless woman stranded at the store. The woman said she did not have any money or a ride off the island but did have a friend in Palmetto who would let her stay with her until she gets her Social Security check. Police gave her a ride to her friend’s residence.

Jan. 31
We didn’t make a peep

7:09 a.m. — 2200 block of GMD. Noise. A man complained about construction noise at the property next door. An electrician at the property said the noise came from a garbage truck.

The last word
9:16 a.m. — 4800 block of GMD. Harassing Phone Call. A condo manager reported that one of his employees constantly receives harassing phone calls from his ex-girlfriend, who lives in Canada. The employee said he has gotten approximately 448 calls from her on his cellphone and work phone in the past two months and worries she will try to sabotage his attempts to become a U.S. citizen, as she has done in the past. She called while police were speaking to the man, and police told her that she could face an arrest warrant next time she visits the United States if she continues to call. She agreed to stop.

Missing permit
2:58 p.m. — 2100 block of Harbourside Drive. Lost/Missing Property. Police helped a 99-year-old woman search for her handicapped parking permit but were unable to locate it.

Dead on arrival
5:11 p.m. — 600 block of GMD. Public Service. A man reported that there was something dead in the wooded area near his home. Police discovered a dead opossum and removed it.

Feb. 1
Nonstop noise

3:11 a.m. — 700 block of Marbury Lane. Public Service. A woman’s alarm system kept beeping, and she could not turn it off. Police helped her reset it.

Let me in
10:19 p.m. — 500 block of Bayview Drive. Public Service. A man flagged down police because he was locked out of his home. Police helped him call his cleaning lady, who has an extra key. She arrived at the scene to unlock the door.

Bang-up job
10:49 p.m. — 600 block of Bayview Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman heard several loud knocks on her door but was not expecting visitors. Police believe she heard one of several fireworks that were discharged on her street around the same time.

Feb. 3
Get on the case

5:07 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Lost/Missing Property. A woman lost a silver cigarette case with her driver’s license, cash, credit cards and Social Security card. She needed a police report to get a new license.

Clouded vision
6:38 p.m. — 100 block of Sands Point Road. Suspicious Person. A man reported that two suspicious men were pulling a kayak and paddleboard. The men told police they decided to return to shore for safety reasons after thick fog developed. Police did not see anything suspicious.

Turf wars
10:29 p.m. — 600 block of Cedar Street. Disturbance. A man said someone has been knocking over small wooden poles that line the corner of his property and throwing yard waste in the same area. He placed the poles in the yard to stop people from driving and parking on his lawn and said a neighbor and her friend have threatened him and forced him to clean up debris in the three months since then. The neighbor told police she has no idea who was knocking over the poles and placing debris in the yard and said everyone in the neighborhood has trouble with the man.

Feb. 4
Stinging step

3:47 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Rescue. Firefighter/paramedics treated a woman who stepped on a stingray.
