Suspicious Vehicle: Police investigated a report of a suspicious vehicle parked on the street. The car’s owner was a homeowner who had no room in his driveway. The vehicle was legally parked.
RIDING OUT THE STORM
12:36 p.m. — 5700 block of GMD
Boat: Police responded to assist a sailboat in distress, but the boat owner said he was fine and anchored 100 feet from shore until the weather calmed.
3:18 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Fraud: A woman reported that a PayPal account was opened in her name to purchase $381 worth of wigs. That revelation was followed by a notice that a bank account was also opened in her name. Police opened a fraud case for her.
8:32 p.m. — 6300 block of GMD
Suspicious Person: Police offered a man a ride to Bradenton, and he accepted.
10:23 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Accident: A man reported that he and his wife were riding northbound in the southbound bicycle lane because of construction, and he hit the fender of a car pulling out in the road, causing him to flip over and land on the car’s hood. He said he wasn’t hurt but wanted the incident documented. The driver paid to have the man’s bicycle repaired.
4:14 p.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road
Property Damage: A man reported that his rental car sustained a scraped quarter panel and cracked taillight while it was parked overnight in a hotel parking lot.
7:03 a.m. — 5200 block of GMD
Boat: Marine Patrol was advised a Manatee County-owned buoy washed up on shore. Public Works employees helpred to retrieve it. It was discarded after Manatee County officials said they would replace it.
9:48 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Fraud: A woman told police someone used her Social Security number to file a tax return. She discovered the issue after she tried to file her taxes.
12:44 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD
Lost Property: A man called to report that blue and yellow trash cans were taken from his yard.
