April 4
Warrant served
8:07 a.m. — 500 block of Broadway.
Warrants. Police arrested a man who had an outstanding arrest warrant for violation of his probation.

Damage control
4:47 p.m. — 1000 block of GMD. Property Damage. A man discovered damage to a rental van he had parked in a condominium lot and wanted to document it for the rental company.

April 6
No public access here
8:45 a.m. — 6600 block of Gulfside Drive.
Trespassing. A woman reported that two males entered her property through a side gate to go surfing. She told police that she has had ongoing problems with trespassers.

Give me a break
9:22 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Threat. A resort housekeeping employee began screaming at his supervisor about having rights, after she confronted him about taking an early break. The supervisor walked away after the altercation but the employee followed her, telling her that if she got him fired, bad things would happen to her. He told another employee he would put two bullets in the supervisor’s head if she got him fired. The man denied threatening his supervisor but said he believes that several other employees were trying to get him fired. He was suspended and escorted off the property.

License check
9:50 a.m. — 3800 block of GMD. Lost/Missing Property. A man discovered his driver’s license was missing before he and his wife prepared to head back to Ohio.

April 7
Whodunit?
12:53 a.m. — 1600 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported that someone moved a water bicycle at a shuttered resort and may have entered the unit where the longtime owner lives. Police found that someone had been in the unit but weren’t sure whether they were trespassers or contractors inspecting the property.

Washed ashore
1:34 p.m. — 4400 block of GMD. Property Found. A property manager found a metal crab trap on the beach.

Can caper
7:06 p.m. — 400 block of GMD. Larceny From Business. A man entered a store for the second time and attempted to buy a four-can case of beer with only three cans intact. The clerk told him that the store only carries four-pack cases and discovered that several more cases had been disassembled. The clerk told police the man began to make a scene when he told him the cases weren’t missing beers before he entered the store; he then left on his bicycle. The clerk believes the man stole, at least, two cans of beer.

Unwanted guests
10:37 p.m. — 6400 block of Gulfside Drive. Trespassing. Police discovered a woman, her boyfriend and two children staying at a home managed by the property-management company for which the women works. Neighbors had called police because her boyfriend was going door-to-door looking for allergy medication. The company’s co-owner told police the woman didn’t have permission to stay at the home, then confiscated keys and company property from the woman’s vehicle. The co-owner said that she would consult with the out-of-state homeowner before determining if the woman would be terminated from her job and whether the homeowner wanted to press charges.

April 9
Lost wallet
9:53 a.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road.
Lost/Missing Property. A man reported he lost his wallet containing $20 cash, a debit card, his driver’s license and his college identification card while on St. Armands Circle. Police took the report but told him to contact Sarasota police.

Under lockdown
12:31 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Vandalism. A couple reported the locks of the condominium in which they were staying appeared to have been smeared with something to prevent them from unlocking the door. The man was able to dig out enough of the substance to open the bottom lock but the deadbolt still wasn’t working.

April 10
Silent treatment
5:34 a.m. — 4700 block of GMD.
Welfare Check. Police went to a hotel to check on the wife of a caller who had been trying to contact her throughout the evening. The woman told police that she was fine and that she and her husband had argued earlier. She didn’t know he was trying to contact her because she was sleeping.

Won’t get far
8:43 a.m. — 3300 block of GMD. Property Found. Police found a set of keys near a condominium entrance.

Barks in the dark
8:39 p.m. — 500 block of De Narvaez Drive. Animal Nuisance. A man told police his neighbor’s dogs are let out at 5:30 a.m. each morning and bark for 15 minutes. Police spoke to the dogs’ owner, who said she would change her routine and try to keep the dogs quiet.

Keys found
8:41 p.m. — 2500 block of GMD. Property Found. A man found a set of keys in a bike lane and said that he would call local bike shops to let them know he turned them in to police.


April 4
Safety lesson
10:58 a.m. — Off the Key.
Boat. After police stopped a Jet Ski for speeding, the vessel flipped, sending the woman driving it and her child passenger into the water. Police put the child in the patrol boat and helped the operator get the Jet Ski back in place. The woman told police that she had just purchased the Jet Ski the day before. She received a pamphlet, written warning and a suggestion that she take a boating safety course.
