Sept. 4
Coasting couple
1:02 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. A caller reported a suspicious vehicle at a beach access. The couple inside the car said they were transients and often sit at various beach locations during normal hours but leave the beach at closing time.

Sept. 5
Wake-up call
12:29 a.m. — 1200 block of GMD.
Welfare Check. A condo security officer responded to a smoke alarm and couldn’t wake up the woman who was sleeping in the unit. The resident was fine and said she is a heavy sleeper and didn’t hear the alarm.

Call police if you ‘C’ this
11:54 a.m. — 600 block of Penfield Street. Larceny From Residence. A woman reported that a necklace with a gold rectangular pendant with eight diamonds forming the letter “C” was taken from her home in July. Police couldn’t find the necklace or pendant in local pawn shops or on Craigslist or eBay.

Senior scam
8:06 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Public Service. A woman’s father lives in Ukraine and was recently scammed out of $1,500 by a person claiming to be a relative who was injured in an accident. She saw a similar scam on a local TV news report and thought the suspects could be the same people who had conned her father.

Sept. 6
False alarm
1:44 a.m. — 800 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. A security guard called police after hearing what sounded like a traffic crash. Police found no evidence of a crash but noted that a vehicle may have braked for an animal before heading north.

Sept. 8
Paws-itive ending
7:34 a.m. — 5500 block of GMD.
Animal. Police trapped an injured German shepherd that a woman found in the pavilion of Joan Durante Park and transported it to the station. Police contacted a German shepherd rescue group, which picked up the dog from the station.

Sept. 9
Shut up and drive
9:50 a.m. — 4600 block of GMD.
Traffic Violation. The driver of a trailer with an expired registration didn’t pull over when police activated emergency lights. The driver finally stopped and admitted he was talking on his cellphone and wasn’t paying attention. He received citations for the expired tag and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle.

Sept. 10
Closer to Kmart
2:29 a.m. — Gulf of Mexico Drive and Longboat Club Road.
Suspicious Person. Police saw a man with a cut above his left eye walking in the bike lane of Gulf of Mexico Drive and asked him if he needed medical treatment. The man said he was fine and that the wound was a week old. He was homeless and said he was looking for Bradenton to go shopping at Kmart. Police transported him to Bradenton.
