Aug. 8

THIS GUY IS WIRED
5200 block of University Parkway, Sarasota
Grand theft: A man walked into a cable provider to return four cable boxes. The manager pulled up his account, took the boxes from him and put them behind the counter. The manager asked the man to sign a receipt for turning in the boxes. At that point, the man refused to sign the receipt, then went behind the counter and grabbed the boxes he returned, then turned and walked out of the store. The cable boxes were valued at $710. The manager wrote down the man's license plate number and called the Sheriff's Office. He said he has a surveillance video he will provide to the Sheriff's Office.

COACH LANDS BIG PENALTY
5100 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Trespass warning: An off-duty Sheriff's Office deputy stepped in when a football coach was causing a disturbance after a game. The coach was asked to leave by the league's director, who eventually asked the deputy to help when the coach wouldn't leave. The deputy said the coach was packing up to leave but was visibly upset. The director told the man he no longer was welcome on the property and asked the deputy to trespass the man. The deputy walked the coach to the parking lot and reported the coach wouldn't provide him with his information, but after several requests produced his driver's license. The deputy explained to the coach he was no longer allowed on the property and if he returned he could be arrested. The coach left without further incident.

TOO MUCH ROCKIN'
23800 block of 53rd Avenue East, Myakka City
Breach of peace: A man contacted the Sheriff's Office about loud music coming from a restaurant/tavern about 3 p.m. The man complained the music was resonating through his walls and disturbing his peace by interfering with his ability to watch a DVD. The man said he could hear the music clearly in his residence. The officer said he could hear the music inside the home and collected an affidavit from the man. The officer also checked to make sure the music was coming from the restaurant/tavern.

THEY'LL NEVER NOTICE
6200 block of State Road 64 East, Bradenton
Grand theft: A man and a woman walked into a department store, walked over to the electronics department and picked out a television. They proceeded to exit the store without paying for it. The case in under investigation.

Aug. 16

CRACK IN THEIR LOGIC
5500 block of Lakewood Ranch Boulevard
Disorderly conduct: A man and a woman were driving along when a man in the rear passenger seat of a passing vehicle stuck his unclothed buttocks out the window and shook it at the woman. Another man was driving the streaking vehicle. The mooned couple followed the car until they were advised to the Sheriff's Office to stop pursuit and to make a report. An affidavit was taken.
