April 17
Long road home
1:10 p.m. — Rye Road East and S.R. 64 East. 
Information. A deputy stopped a vehicle traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes. The couple said they were driving from Naples to their Port Charlotte home and wound up in Lake Placid, where they crashed their car and had rented another one. They had been lost for the past two days, slept in their car and hadn’t eaten since the day before. EMS took them to the hospital for a medical evaluation.

April 18
That's nuts
3:05 p.m. — 3100 block of 48th Ave. Drive E
. Information. A man found three squirrels, two of which were dead. He took the surviving squirrel home to care for it and realized it had been shot in the back leg with a pellet gun.

April 22
Oh, Danny boy
8:36 p.m. — 4500 block of Summer Cove Drive
. Burglary. A man was singing to himself while walking up the stairs to his apartment when he saw an unknown man leaving the unit. The man said he had the wrong unit and was looking for “Danny.” Nothing was missing.

April 23
Strip search
6:46 p.m. — 5500 block of 46th St. E
. Information. A woman reported someone in a tan van stopped in front of her house and said something to her son before leaving the area. Her son said there was a picture of a naked woman on the back of the van. Deputies couldn’t locate the van.

You’re out of line
11:20 p.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Suspicious Incidents. A cashier told a woman the checkout lane was closing and she would be the last person allowed through it. When the woman told the man behind her to go to another lane, he said, “%#&! you, why don’t you mind your own business.” The woman told him she is a former corrections deputy and doesn’t have to take that kind of stuff. The man threatened to follow her home and kill her. The woman waited until he left to walk to her vehicle.

April 24
Tread lightly
9:37 a.m. — 100 block of 41st Circle E.
Information. A man in his 90s approached a neighbor and accused her husband of trespassing on his property, saying he would kill her husband if it happened again. A deputy determined that the man believes his neighbors hate him and are stealing his belongings and damaging his property. Deputies reviewed his security footage and found no one entered his yard.
