The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

Sept. 1
Family issues
 10:06 a.m. — 1600 block of CR 675.
Battery. While the complainant got into a verbal argument with her son, she said her daughter-in-law started to assault her. The complainant’s son, who was the witness, said he heard the women arguing and saw his wife push his mom. No physical injuries were visible to the police, however CPS was notified, and the wife was arrested for domestic battery and taken to Manatee Jail.

Sept. 2
Bag lady
 10:57 a.m. — 7000 block of 52nd Place E.
Petit Theft. Store staff observed the defendant entering changing rooms with items from clothes racks and emerging empty-handed. When the complainant checked the changing rooms, there were no clothes inside. The defendant proceeded past all points of sale without making purchases. The complainant confronted the defendant outside and searched her belongings, which led to the missing clothing items being found inside the defendant’s purse.

Delayed reaction
 11:08 a.m. — 3000 block of 30th Lane E. 
Battery. The victim had been injured the previous night, however, she had decided not to report the incident. It was only after she had to receive medical treatment at the hospital that she decided to press charges.

Night light
 7:20 p.m. — 8000 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. 
Suspicious Incidents. An employee of a local gym reported that she thought her car was being tampered with. This was the second time she has reported the incident. Both times, the reporting party said she thought someone was touching her car because the headlights were left on when she thought she had turned them off. The reporting party believed that her ex-boyfriend was involved. There was no evidence that it was her ex, and no fingerprints were collected due to herself and others touching the car.

Sept. 3
Keys to the case
 8:34 a.m. — 3000 block of University Parkway
. Found Property. Police arrived on the scene to pick up a keyboard. The keyboard, found at a bank, was thought to be suspicious and led to the bank being evacuated. Once the bank was cleared and the keyboard was determined to be harmless, the bank was reopened.

Armed robbery 
3:05 a.m. — 3000 53rd Avenue E. 
Armed Robbery. Two armed suspects entered a convenience store and demanded money from the victim. The robbers fled the store and headed westward on foot.

Sept. 4
Unwanted guest
 8:47 a.m. — 6000 block of Fort Hamer Road.
 Aggravated Assault and Battery. A sleepover went sour when the host woke up to her guest asking her for money. When she told the guest no, she got mad. The situation escalated when the guest started to punch her host in the face, who started fighting back to free herself. Once the guest was fended off, she went to the kitchen and grabbed a knife and began to threaten her host. The victim was able to convince her guest to go outside. Once she got her outside, the victim locked the front door and called the police. By the time the police arrived, the guest had left the area.

Sept. 6
Rough ride
 7:44 p.m. —
 Intersection of Alpine Circle and Kay Road. False Imprisonment.A woman offered a hitchiker a ride but was then held at gunpoint and forced to drive the hitchhiker to a nearby motel.

Sept. 7
Cookie monster
 1:15 a.m. — 5000 block of 33rd Street E.
 Petit/Grand Theft. The suspect entered the store, took a cookie from the cookie display and proceeded to break the display.
