Cops Corner: East County

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

Sept. 22
10:05 a.m. — 10400 block of Myakka Boulevard.
Information. Since March 2011, the Manatee County Sheriff’s Ofice has responded to the residence 37 times in reference to 911 calls. A married couple lives at the residence along with another male, who makes sure the couple gets meals. The male is a heavy drinker and is not at the residence during the day. A female complainant also was helping prepare meals for the couple. Both the husband and his wife have numerous health problems. They both stated they wanted family services to respond to assist them. The responding deputy advised he would contact them. He also advised the husband he doesn’t need to call 911 unless it is an emergency and wrote down the number for information on a phone list that was on the wall in the living room.

Sept. 21
2:19 p.m. — 6200 block of 38th Street E.
Information. The complainant accidentally locked her grandson in her vehicle while it was parked inside her garage. The garage door was open, and the vehicle was running with the air conditioning on. She called 911 immediately. The child was unharmed.

Sept. 22
7:27 p.m. — 2875 University Parkway (Publix).
Information. The complainant was in an altercation with his fiancee in Sarasota County on an earlier date. He stated since the altercation, his fiancee’s father has been calling, texting and following him. The complainant was driving and ended up behind Publix. The suspect pulled up close to the complainant and made the same statements he makes in the phone calls and texts: “You’re a lucky boy,” and “I’m not done with you yet.” The complainant drove off and pulled into the Walmart parking lot and called 911. The suspect continued to follow the complainant until he parked at Walmart. While conducting the interview, the suspect called the complainant again, and the responding deputy answered.

Sept. 22
3 p.m. — 8900 block of White Sage Loop.
Found property. While driving down the road in his neighborhood, the complainant observed a wallet lying on the ground. He picked up the wallet and drove to the address listed on the person’s ID. The complainant left a note after no one answered the door. After not hearing back from the owner, the complainant called the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office to report the wallet he found. The responding deputy took the wallet and attempts to contact the owner were unsuccessful. The wallet was placed into property and evidence for safekeeping.
