Cops Corner: East County

The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

CANDLEWOOD
Dec. 4
6:45 a.m. — 2800 block of 48th Drive East. Animal complaint. The responding deputy arrived in reference to a call of a large horse running loose in the 2800 block of 38th Avenue East. Upon his arrival, the deputy observed the horse repeatedly attempt to enter the pasture located between 30th Street East and U.S. 301 from 48th Drive East to 38th Avenue East. The deputy had dispatch attempt several phone calls to locate the horse’s owner. The deputy attempted to push the horse toward a gate into the pasture but was unsuccessful. The horse skirted the perimeter of the property, attempting several times to push through the fence. The horse made his way to the 2700 block of 48th Drive East and was nearing U.S. 301. The deputy cut the horse off with his vehicle, trying to turn him away from 301. The horse continued to ram the fence trying to get to the pasture.

PALM PLACE
Reported Dec. 3
10 p.m. — 7500 block of Alicia Lane. Identity theft. The victim reported her Money Network Visa card account information was fraudulently used at three different locations in Florida. She stated her card was physically in her possession when her account information was used. A total of $384.33 was obtained from the account.

SABAL HARBOUR
Dec. 4
12:01 a.m. — 4400 block of Sanibel Way. Information. The complainant called in reference to a large party next door. The previous occupants of the residence moved out a few days prior but did say they were throwing one last party. Upon the responding deputy’s arrival at the residence, at least 100 people fled the scene, and another 150 people were still at the residence. The deputy had additional units respond to assist in clearing the residence out. The residence was secured. No owner could be located. The property appraiser has the residence owned by Bank of America.

SUMMERFIELD
Dec. 3
9:40 p.m. — 11700 block of Summer Meadow Drive. Baker Act. The suspect suffers from an undisclosed disorder and currently is prescribed medication. The suspect had been drinking wine and was upset. He stated he was going to kill himself, so he went out to his pool area and cut both of his arms one time with a box cutter.

UNIVERSITY COMMONS
Dec. 3
10 a.m. — 3400 block of 82nd Avenue Circle E. Criminal mischief. The complainant reported an unknown person broke her back porch light, damaged a plant that was on her back porch and broke her vehicle’s left taillight. She believes her neighbors vandalized her property, but there were no witnesses to the incident.

OTHER
Nov. 30
12:30 p.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road. Petit theft first degree less than $300. The complainant rode his bike to the store and then locked his bike up on the store’s bike rack with a bike cable and lock. When he came out of the store, he noticed his bike was missing. His bike cable had been cut and was on the ground.
