The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office. 

Aug. 17
Voluminous complaint
2 a.m. — 2400 block of 53rd Avenue E. 
Juvenile Disturbance. While responding to a noise complaint, deputies found several teens drinking from beer cans and plastic Solo-style cups. The property’s owner told a deputy that he has a meeting with the county to discuss how deputies violate his rights and how he spends at least two hours on his computer each day researching laws. Deputies photographed beer cans and a large bonfire at the scene and also pulled over five partygoers to ensure they were sober enough to drive.

Aug. 18
Last-ditch effort
3:49 a.m. — 3400 block of 26th Avenue E. 
Criminal Mischief Under $200. Deputies found a white SUV stuck in the ditch outside a country club entrance with a piece of lattice fencing and mailbox post around it, along with three occupants who appeared intoxicated. The driver admitted to taking the fencing piece and removing the mailbox in an effort to get the vehicle out of the ditch. The mailbox owner agreed not to prosecute if the mailbox is repaired.

You don’t light up my life
6:42 p.m. — 3700 block of 75th Terrace E. Domestic Disturbance. A married couple got into an argument because the man refused to buy the woman her own pack of cigarettes, but the couple seemed calm by the time deputies left the scene. Deputies returned less than an hour later after the woman began slamming doors. The woman was upset because she said her husband doesn’t love her anymore. The man agreed to leave the house for the night.

Aug. 19
Making the cut
8:17 a.m. — 4800 block of 76th Court E. 
Found Property. A man was taking a walk and picking up trash when he found a bag with a T-shirt covered in blood and dressing material. The shirt had been cut off around the neckline. Deputies confirmed that a robbery had taken place earlier that day in Palmetto and that the offender had fled after being cut.

Road rage
5:05 p.m. — Heritage Green Way and S.R. 64 E. Battery. The occupants of a vehicle got into a fight with the occupants of another vehicle after one driver cut the other off several times. They rushed each other and fought on the ground, and one male had his shirt ripped, as someone tried to pull him off another person. The parties agreed not to press charges on one another

Aug. 24
Windows to souls
1:53 p.m. — 43000 block of State Road 64 East.
Criminal Mischief with Property Damage. Unknown person(s) smashed four windows out of a travel trailer. The trailer was parked on the owner’s property. It appeared as though large pieces of rock were used to smash the windows. Entry was not made into the travel trailer.
