UP TO SOMETHING?
4:30 a.m. — 3800 block South Tamami Trail. Suspicious Activity. A store manager called police about three teenagers who entered the store and walked around. The owner told police he thought the males were acting strange and may have been stealing from the store. The teens left in a white van, and police were unable to locate them.

I SAW THAT
Noon — 1300 block Main Street. Open Container. A police officer approached a homeless man after witnessing the man toss a half-lit cigarette on the ground. The officer issued a warning and asked him if he possessed anything illegal, noting the man was acting nervous. The homeless man then removed a bottle of whiskey and a cigarette pack containing a small bag of marijuana from his bag. The man was issued two summons to appear in court.

Aug. 28
MORE VALUABLE THAN CASH
1 a.m. — 2500 block South Tamiami Trail. Burglary of a Structure. An unknown person broke into the office next to the bar at a local establishment. The suspect climbed through the window, and once inside, opened the door to the office and cut the large padlock on the safe. The suspect left the money in the safe, but removed a bottle of pinot noir from the storage room. The suspect drank half of the bottle and left the half-empty bottle.

ROAD RAGE
6:53 a.m. — 1900 Block Main Street. Dispute/Fight. A driver stopped an officer and told him that a woman she doesn't know had been following her in a car. The unknown follower then stopped and came up and began yelling at the woman. The follower was upset because she said the woman almost hit her. The officer told her that next time, instead of trailing someone in her car, she should obtain a tag number and call the police from the scene.

TURN IT DOWN
10:58 p.m. — 170 block Golden Gate Point. Dispute/Fight. A resident called the police about loud music coming from the residence above. The resident told the officer this is an ongoing issue with his neighbor. The officer talked to the loud-music-loving neighbor, who apologized and said he would call it a night and be quiet. The upstairs neighbor had two friends over and appeared to be drinking.

YOU'RE CUT OFF, BUDDY
11:40 p.m. — 2200 block Ringling Boulevard. Trespass. A pub manager asked police to trespass a bar fly who refused to leave. The man left without incident.

Aug. 29
CAN'T SLEEP HERE
2:15 a.m. — 1500 block Boulevard of the Arts. Lodging Out-of-Doors. An officer contacted a man sleeping on flattened beer packing. The officer then transported the homeless man to a shelter after issuing him a lodging warning and entered him into the lodging file.

CASE OF THE MISSING JACKET
2:00 p.m. — 2900 block Fruitville Road. Trespass. A business owner called the police about someone who came to collect a jacket belonging to an ex-employee. The jacket-seeker couldn't find the jacket, so he demanded money from the owner. Both men began to argue before police arrived.

THAT DOESN’T WORK FOR ME
8:00 p.m. — 3500 block Tamiami Trail. Suspicious Activity. A woman called the police to report a suspicious man who had been showing up to her workplace for the past four years. The woman told officers that she has no idea how the man knows her. She said the man has been watching her more frequently, which is causing her to worry that he is going to do something to her. The officer filed a report on the suspicious incident.

TABLE SCRAP
4:30 p.m. — 1300 First Street. Dispute/Fight. Two men at the public library got in a verbal dispute inside the computer room. They were arguing about how one person was using too much space at the table. A police officer told both men that they cannot argue in the library and issued them both a trespass warning.

Aug. 30
FULLY EQUIPPED
12:01 a.m. — 900 block 47th Street. Burglary of a Structure. An unknown person/persons broke into a shed and stole two weed eaters. The suspect appeared to try to break into the shed again, so the resident called police. The weed eaters were recovered by police officers in the 47th Street Park.

TIME TO PHONE A FRIEND
11:30 a.m. — 2100 Ringling Boulevard. Civil Problem. A phone company charged a man $202,919 on his office phone bill. The man told police there is no way he used his phone that much and that he wanted to file a report.
