March 30
Boat disappears
1:53 p.m. — 600 block of Rountree Drive.
Boat Theft. A man told police that someone stole his boat from a floating dock on the canal behind his home.

March 31
Mobile home on the move
6:57 a.m. — 5300 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD).
Code Enforcement. Police told a man that he and his wife couldn’t spend the night in their motor home, which they parked in The Centre Shops parking lot.

Missing wallet
6:18 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD.
Lost Property. A woman reported her small blue wallet, which contained her passport and credit cards, was missing.

All’s well ...
8:30 p.m. — 3700 block of GMD.
Welfare Check. A woman asked police to check on her mother after a severe thunderstorm hit the area. The mother was located and said she was OK.

Rain enters resort
9:30 p.m. — 3400 block of GMD.
Property Damage. Occupants of the Seahorse Resort reported water coming into their hotel rooms through light fixtures and ceiling fans after a strong thunderstorm.

April 1
Hard at work
5:09 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD.
Welfare Check. A day after a severe thunderstorm hit the island, a woman asked police to check on the welfare of her father. Her father was found in his yard doing yard work.

Construction noise reported
10:50 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Road
. Security Check. A man reported loud banging noises coming from a church. The loud noise was determined to be from a sewer line being repaired.

April 2
Move it
12:35 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway.
Code Enforcement. A man was told he would be in violation of a town ordinance if he parked his motor home in a vacant parking lot behind Avenue of the Flowers for more than five days.

Stove fire extinguished
10:25 a.m. — 2200 block of Harbour Court Drive
. Fire. A woman’s stove underwent an electrical fire, and the Fire Rescue Department disconnected the stove and aired out the home.

Domestic violence reported
12:29 p.m. — 4100 block of GMD.
Domestic Violence. A man was arrested for assaulting his girlfriend and trying to force himself on her.

Loose dog
2:30 p.m. — 700 block of Hideaway Bay Drive.
Animal Nuisance. A man told police that his neighbor’s dog came onto his property without a leash and came after his dog. Police spoke to the dog owner, who promised to abide by the leash law.

Fire alarm reset
7:50 p.m. — 1100 block of GMD
. Alarm. Smoke from a kitchen caused a condominium fire alarm to go off. The smoke was cleared, and the alarm was reset.

April 3
Drunk driver
3:42 a.m. — 1100 block of GMD.
Driving Under the Influence. A man was pulled over for driving 70 miles per hour on Gulf of Mexico Drive. He was arrested after failing field sobriety tests and taken to Sarasota County Jail.

Conflicting reports
10:06 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD.
Domestic Violence. A hotel desk clerk called police after a woman demanded her husband not be allowed access to their room. The husband walked into the lobby with scratches on his face and a bite mark on his arm. Both denied domestic violence and reported the scratch marks were from “rough, wild sex.” When the two were asked to fill out a report, the husband wrote that he fell down. The wife wrote, “My marriage is over! I’m done!” The husband spent the night in another hotel room.

Traffic offender arrested
2:33 p.m. — 4600 block of GMD.
Traffic Violation. A man was arrested for driving without a valid driver’s license after he was spotted tailgating another driver.

Loud noises
3:20 p.m. — Beer Can Island.
Code Enforcement. A man was warned that if he played his boat stereo too loudly one more time near Beer Can Island, he would receive a notice to appear in court.

Flat tire reported
9:43 p.m. — 400 block of GMD.
Public Service. A woman flagged down a police officer because her bicycle had a flat tire, and she couldn’t find anyone to assist her. She and her bike were driven home.

April 4
Smoke signals
9:01 a.m. — 4600 block of GMD.
Recovered Property. Police confiscated marijuana discovered in a resort room after occupants had checked out. Police couldn’t determine to whom the marijuana belonged due to the number of people going in and out of the unit that weekend.

Close crawl
5:09 p.m. — 100 block of North Shore Road.
Code Enforcement. Police saw a man crawling under a fence at the closed North Shore Road beach access. He promised to abide by the rules in the future.

April 5
Garbage gone missing
9:44 a.m. — 500 block of Gunwale Lane
. Lost Property. A man called to report a stolen garbage can.

April 6
Missing wallet
11:41 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD
. Lost Property. A woman told police her blue checkbook-size coin purse, with a glassfish ornament and keys attached, was missing.

 

 

April 7
Toilet water
12:22 a.m. — 600 block of Broadway.
Driving Under the Influence. Police arrested a man for drinking and smoking marijuana in his car after he was pulled over for drifting in his lane. Later, the man attempted to pass off toilet water as a urine sample.
