— 5600 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Traffic Violation. A man was pulled over after police noticed he tried to alter his expired tag with a magic marker. He was issued a court summons for multiple violations.

Lights are on, but nobody’s home
9:59 p.m.
— 1600 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A light was reported on inside a vacant resort unit. The sliding door to the unit was unlocked, and the unit was secured.

10:18 a.m.
— 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Property Damage. A woman told police she was exiting Avenue of the Flowers and felt a loud impact to her vehicle. She discovered a dent when she got home. Police believe an errant golf ball from the nearby golf course hit the car and caused the $200 worth of damage.

11:14 a.m.
— 5900 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A woman reported that a car almost hit her while she was riding her bicycle in the bicycle lane. The driver told police she had plenty of time to turn before the bicyclist entered the intersection. Both were warned to be more careful in the future.

— 4000 block of GMD. Vandalism. Police noticed graffiti in the men’s restroom at Bayfront Park Recreation Center.

Touchy subject
8:27 p.m.
— 4400 block of Exeter Drive. Assault. A woman reported that one of her neighbors, who questioned whether she lived in the condominium, grabbed her arm and yelled at her because the neighbor was upset with the woman’s children for turning the lights on and off at the swimming pool. The neighbor told police she only lightly touched the woman’s arm. She was asked to stay away from the woman and her children.

— 3600 block of Fair Oaks Place. Property Damage. A cable employee reported that a landscaper’s weed eater struck his cable company van and caused $100 of damage to the side of the van. A property damage report was completed. The landscaper said the incident was unintentional.

Honking mad
2:31 p.m.
— 6300 block of GMD. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman told police that a man driving an appliance van followed her to her office after she honked at him for attempting a slow turn on Anna Maria Island. The man yelled obscenities at her and told her he knew where she worked. The appliance company was called and promised to perform an investigation of the incident.

Totally floored
7:46 p.m.
— 5700 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. A man was told he couldn’t install a new wood floor on a Sunday because he was violating the noise ordinance with his table saw.

7:57 a.m.
— 5600 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. A man walking his bicycle with flat tires down Gulf of Mexico Drive was issued a written warning for camping overnight on Longboat Key after other officers confirmed he was seen on the Key overnight.

Eager to please

— 500 block of Sanctuary Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. It was reported that a woman came to a condominium complex twice in one night, while driving a separate taxi in each instance, to pick someone up even though her cab service was never called.

Road runoff

— 5500 block of GMD. Accident. A man told police that a black sport utility vehicle forced him off the road and into the grass. He was not injured, and his bicycle was not damaged.

Flood zone
11:47 p.m.
— 500 block of St. Judes Drive. Public Service. A car ran over a backflow-prevention device, which caused water to flood a yard. The water was shut off until the repair could be made.

12:14 p.m.
— 5600 block of GMD. Lost Property. A woman reported that her bicycle was missing, but she later found it propped up against the wall of a store.

Scratching the surface
3:27 p.m.
— 4700 block of GMD. Property Damage. A hotel employee showed police where someone dented and scratched the side of his pickup truck while it was parked in the hotel parking lot. The incident caused $200 worth of damage.

April 26
To grandmother’s house we go
1:46 p.m.
— 200 block of North Shore Road. Narcotics Violation. A woman reported that there was a young man sleeping on her back porch, and she had no idea who he was. The man, who was under the influence of drugs, told police he thought he was at his grandma’s house in Orlando. He was arrested for possession of narcotics and trespassing.

Roadside assistance
8:42 a.m.
— 6000 block of GMD. Public Service. A man flagged down a police officer and said he was out of gas. He was given two gallons of gas and directed to the Key’s only gas station.

April 24
Avian accident
8:11 p.m.
— 2400 block of GMD. Animal Injury. Police found a large dead goose lying on the shoulder of the road. It appeared to have been hit by a car.

Sound and the fury
8:44 p.m.
— 400 block of GMD. Boat. Police discovered a stereo playing on a boat, although no one was occupying it. A call to the boat’s owner was made as a precaution.

Noise control
9:52 p.m.
— 700 block of Marbury Lane. Noise Disturbance. A complaint was issued for kids making too much noise while playing in a pool. The father promised to keep the noise under control.

Lots to learn
2:23 p.m.
— 200 block of North Shore Road. Trespassing. Three people were issued trespass warnings for parking their car in a condominium parking lot near the beach.

April 27
Beachgoer receives treatment
5:49 p.m.
— Beer Can Island. Rescue. An injured person was treated on Beer Can Island and transported to Anna Maria Island.

You’re on candid camera
6:10 p.m.
— 600 block of Buttonwood Drive. Disturbance. A woman told police her neighbor drove by her house while taking pictures. The man denied taking pictures of her home. They were asked to stay away from each other.
