The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

GREENBROOK
May 21
 6 p.m.
— 15500 block of Lemon Fish Drive. Burglary to a vehicle. Unknown person(s) entered into the victim’s vehicle and removed a zippered pouch from a pocket on the driver’s side door. The pouch contained about $12 in quarters and numerous identification type cards. The ID cards were found under a bush by a neighbor about two houses away. When returned to the owner, he found his unlocked vehicle had been burglarized overnight. The pouch and coins weren’t recovered. Other expensive items in the vehicle weren’t stolen. The owner said he believes the person(s) didn’t go past the driver’s side door to search the rest of the vehicle.

 7:30 p.m. 
— The intersection of Greenbrook Boulevard and Nighthawk Terrace. Found property. The complainant stated his son found several items in the grass near the entrance to the Crossings subdivision. The items were placed into property and evidence at the Operations Center.

 LAKEWOOD RANCH

May 20
 12:45 p.m. 
— 7800 Mathern Court. Information (lost property). The complainant reported she left her pocketbook on top of her husband’s car. He then drove away with it on top. It was blown off the roof somewhere between their residence and the doctor’s office in Sarasota.

May 22
 11:25 p.m. 
— The intersection of Lorraine Road and State Road 70 E. Possession of marijuana (less than 20 grams). During a traffic stop for an equipment violation, a strong odor of cannabis was observed coming from the defendant’s open rear passenger window where he was seated. The juvenile defendant was observed dropping a bag of cannabis as he exited the rear passenger door on the driver’s side. He was the only rear seat passenger and was arrested for the offense. A search of the vehicle revealed a small cannabis pipe also in the rear passenger compartment under the passenger seat, but the defendant wasn’t charged with that. Post-Miranda, he admitted to smoking. Another deputy arrived and took custody of the cannabis and pipe and submitted them into property and evidence. The defendant was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center to be cleared prior to being transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

LINGER LODGE
May 22
 3 p.m. 
— 7205 85th St. Court E. (Linger Lodge RV Park boat ramp). Found property. The complainant stated while he was canoeing on the Braden River, he found a black bag in the water by a bridge that contained a handgun and other items. All items were placed into property and evidence.

TARA
May 20
 4:08 p.m.
— 6000 block of Wingspan Way. Identity theft. The victim reported her card numbers had been used for unauthorized online purchases.

OTHER
May 20
 5:17 p.m.
— 3500 block of 63rd Ave. E. Grand theft and theft from construction site. Unknown person(s) arrived by vehicle and hooked up the trailer before towing it away. The vehicle left behind tire tracks that are believed to be from a dually-type vehicle.

4:50 p.m. — 8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road (Walmart). Retail theft. A witness observed the defendant remove a set of headphones from its packaging and place the headphones into his pants pocket. The defendant then proceeded to the garden center and past the last point of purchase. The witness approached the defendant and identified himself.

7:45 p.m. — 1000 block of 135th St. E. Burglary to unoccupied structure (garage). Unknown subject(s) entered the locked detached garage via a side window. Once inside, they took two surfboards and fled in an unknown direction.
