The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

SARASOTA
April 14
 8 p.m.
— 5000 block of 80th Plaza Avenue E. Burglary to an occupied residence. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s open garage. Once inside, the suspect(s) removed a weed eater and a gas can while the victim was inside the house.

TARA
April 12
 1:52 p.m.
— 5455 Tara Blvd. (Regions Bank). Grand theft. An unknown male entered the bank and met with an employee. The suspect asked to make change, and the employee began the transaction. The suspect counted the money and handed it back. The complainant accepted the money without again counting it herself. At the end of the day, the complainant was audited and was $300 short. The complainant realized she had been quick-changed by the male suspect earlier in the day.

OTHER
April 13
 8 a.m.
— 7600 block of Eagle Creek Drive. Grand theft (vehicle). The suspect approached the victim near the 7-Eleven at 17th Street and U.S. 301 because the victim was having car trouble. The suspect drove the victim home in her vehicle, and after she exited the vehicle, the suspect drove away. The victim waited 36 hours to report the vehicle as stolen.

 8:25 a.m
. — 6800 block of 44th Terrace E. Armed burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s residence through the unlocked front door while he was at work. Once inside, the person(s) took several items, including several firearms. Fingerprints were lifted from the scene. A neighborhood canvas was conducted, but it was unsuccessful.

 4:18 p.m
. — 6500 block of 44th Avenue E. Possession of a controlled substance (Roxicodone). The defendant was arrested after admitting to be in possession of Roxicodone and drug paraphernalia. The defendant was in a suspicious vehicle.

 4:45 p.m
. — 8750 S.R. 70 E. (Sweetbay Supermarket). Petit theft. A witness from the store’s loss prevention division observed the defendant removing an item from the shelf of the store and then passing all points of return without paying. The suspect was apprehended by loss prevention. The suspect admitted he had attempted to steal the item. The suspect was arrested.

 5:20 p.m.
— 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Walmart). Grand theft: shoplifting. The defendant detained after he concealed Walmart merchandise and left the store without paying. He was brought back to the office and the merchandise was recovered. The responding deputy was out with the defendant about two hours earlier when he ducked behind a house in Manatee Oaks. The suspect and his friends said they were going to the Dollar Store. The deputy searched the suspect’s backpack at the time and only found a football. When the backpack was searched again in the office, it contained eight packages of some type of over-the-counter medication and an unopened Monster energy drink. The suspect was asked where he got it and he wouldn’t say. He did not have any receipts to prove he bought the items. The deputy placed him under arrest without incident.

The suspect was taken to the juvenile booking facility. While at the booking facility, a B.O.L.O. went out that the suspect was reported missing, so he was removed. The pills, the drink and the lighter were placed into property and evidence.
