East County Robin Hood
2900 block of 53rd Avenue East
Petit theft: An employee saw a man enter a store and open several packs of Pokémon playing cards and stuff them into his pocket. Then the man tried to leave the store without paying, and the employee detained him until the Sheriff’s Office arrived. The cards valued $195. While the man was being arrested he said he was stealing them “for a kid’s birthday.”

One mess leads to another
8300 block of Lockwood Ridge Road
Information only: A woman refused to get out of the way of a Sarasota County Area Transit bus. The driver and a witness, who stayed anonymous, said the woman intentionally placed her foot under the handicap ramp the driver was trying to lower for a wheelchair bound patron. After the ramp landed, the woman complained that she had a injured her foot, and was transported to Lakewood Ranch Medical Center. She told the deputy who responded that she had a personal vendetta against the bus driver, whom she said wouldn’t let her ride the bus anymore because she spilt a soda on his bus.

Bad reception
1900 block of 27th Avenue Drive East          
Burglary: A woman was gone from her home for four hours. When she returned, she found that her TV had been stolen from her home. There were no signs of forced entry and nothing else had been disturbed. The woman said she had no idea who could have taken it and had not given anyone permission to enter her home. She called the Sheriff’s Office to make a report
