No-win situation
2:50 a.m. — 1000 block of North Tamiami Trail.
Noise Disturbance. Complainant said the pressure washers cleaning a supermarket were making too much noise. However, it’s likely if the store didn’t clean the store, it would probably receive complaints that it’s too dirty.

Ring any silver bells?
10 a.m. — 1600 block of Pelican Point Drive.
Burglary. An elderly woman said someone had stolen $700 worth of forks and spoons from a cabinet in her home. The theft could have taken place as far back as Easter. She doesn’t know who may have had access to her home. There were no signs of forced entry.

Where am I?
11:45 a.m. — 900 block of Beach Road
. Suspicious Incident. When she was unable to find her car, a woman called the Sheriff’s Office. During her activities the previous night, she had parked at a Siesta Key beach access point and walked to the beach, where she met a stranger and began drinking with him. After a few vodkas-and-water, she became drunk and remembers nothing after that point. The 37-year-old wound up at a friend’s house near Bee Ridge Road and U.S. 41, but she doesn’t know how she got there. About an hour earlier, a man called the woman’s mother and asked how her daughter was doing. A deputy got that man’s phone number and called him. The man said he found the woman on the beach, after she had become drunk. He drove her car, with her inside, to a drugstore at Fruitville Road and U.S. 41. She got out of the car and never returned. The woman went to that drugstore and got her car, but she still doesn’t know how she got from Fruitville Road to Bee Ridge Road.

They don’t have an app for that
12:30 p.m. — 1400 block of First Street.
Theft. A woman said someone stole her iPad at a supermarket. Next up: an anti-theft app.

Law and disorder
4:05 p.m. — 1600 block of Main Street.
Threats. An employee at a law office reported a client was calling and harassing her. The man did not want to pay his bill. During his first call, he told the woman that he was angry and wanted to meet with his attorney to settle it. To clear up any ambiguity over whether that constituted a threat, he also added, “Yes, this is a minor threat.” The man called later that day and said he would be in the office at the end of the month, and “it won’t be pretty for any of y’all.”

Talking trash
9:41 a.m. — 1500 block of Flower Drive
. Vehicle Crash. A garbage truck was driving down the street. A landscaping truck was parked in its path. The garbage-truck driver drove in the other lane as it passed the landscaping truck but veered back into his lane too soon. He ended up clipping the landscaping trailer. No one was hurt.
