9:26 p.m. — 4200 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD). Traffic Violation. Police pulled over a man driving a four-door, silver Jeep. The man was driving in and out of his lane, and police issued him a ticket for driving with a suspended driver’s license. The man was unaware of the suspension and said his “lawyer should have taken care of this.” Police told the man he could not drive until his license was reinstated.

July 19
Hold off on the locksmith
11:02 a.m. — 2100 block of GMD. Found Property. A man found a set of keys while walking near New Pass Bridge and turned them over to police.

July 21
Name game
12:31 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Trespassing. Police found a man walking in Overlook Park after hours, and he explained he had entered the park from the bridge and wasn’t aware the park was closed. When asked for identification, the man said his name was Mark Lombardo. When told he couldn’t be located in the system, the man asked, “Do you want me to give you my real name?”

When he finally offered up his real identity, he was issued notices for trespassing and providing false information to a law-enforcement officer.

July 23
Get it in writing
6:04 a.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Code Enforcement. Police saw a man using a leaf blower at about 6 a.m., which is two hours before the town’s noise ordinance allows such action. The man’s supervisor told police he had made an agreement with Publix Super Markets and town officials to clear the plaza before the store opened. Police advised the man to get the agreement in writing and give a copy to the police department.

Drug thief busted
12:01 p.m. — 5300 block of GMD. Narcotics Violation. A Sarasota Police Department detective alerted Longboat Key Police that they arrested a Bradenton man who admitted to stealing a doctor’s prescription pad to write two fraudulent prescriptions at The Medicine Shoppe, in the Centre Shops. The man was arrested and charged with multiple felony charges that were a result of the Sarasota Police investigation.
