Key evidence
9:56 a.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Property Found. Police found a key with a BoatUS membership tag above the driver’s side visor of a Longboat Key Police Department vehicle. Police drove to the address listed on the membership. No one was home, but police learned the key was part of an investigation involving the homeowner.

Can I get a refill?
12:24 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Lost Property. A man reported that an unknown person entered his hotel room the night before and removed three bottles of prescription medication valued at $130. He told police that he had left the sliding glass door open the night before and found his front door open when he returned to the room. The man needed a police report to refill the
prescriptions.

Aug. 1
No day at the beach
9:44 a.m. — 3400 block of GMD. Suspicious Person. Police responded to a call about a suspicious truck parked at a beach access. The vehicle’s owner said that he and his family had come to the beach but planned to leave because one of the family members was sick.

Call a cab
1:55 p.m. — 6800 block of GMD. Traffic Violation. A New York woman was pulled over for failure to maintain driving in a single lane. Police administered field sobriety tests and called a cab for the driver and her passengers.

Aug. 2
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
1:07 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police found six people on the boardwalk under New Pass Bridge after hours. Four of the people, whom police previously had warned about being in the park after it closed, received written warnings. The other two people received verbal warnings.

What a whopper
9:18 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Fishing Violation. A man who was fishing without a license told police that he only had one fish in his bucket. Police found five fish, including three, undersized gray snappers. The man received a summons to appear in court. The fish were
released.

Just playing
2:28 p.m. — 3600 block of GMD. Civil Disturbance. A woman reported that her neighbor tried to hit her son by throwing a plastic pool ring at him. The neighbor said that she was only tossing the ring back to the boy.

All clear
9:01 p.m. — 400 block of GMD. Security Check. Police conducted a security check after discovering that the door of a business was open. The owner said that everything appeared normal.

Aug. 3
Bag lady
1:50 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD. Lost or Missing Property. A woman reported that she might have left a black bag in the taxi she took from the Tampa International Airport to Longboat Key. Police contacted the taxi company and the Tampa and airport police departments.

Aug. 4
They didn’t make a splash
12:37 a.m. — 1900 block of GMD. Juvenile Nuisance Acts. Juveniles left a condominium hot tub without incident after security reported that they were in the pool after hours.

Explosive personalities
3:09 p.m. — 400 block of North Shore Road. Fireworks. A man reported that a moving vehicle was shooting fireworks at people. Police confiscated the fireworks.

Aug. 5
Where’s the fire?
11:57 a.m. — 5000 block of GMD. Fire. Police-and-fire officials responded to a complaint of a possible lightning strike that started a house fire. Upon arrival, they couldn’t find any fire.
