Sept. 18
Boat sneaks away
10:34 p.m. — 700 block of Dream Island Road. Suspicious Circumstance. A woman reported a suspicious flatboat in the canal behind her home. Police saw the boat, occupied by two men, leaving the area. No further action was taken.

Late-night shopping
11:25 p.m. — 500 block of Bay Isles Parkway. Suspicious Person. A man was issued a trespass warning for walking around Avenue of the Flowers late at night.

Sept. 19
‘Animal House’ re-enacted
2:27 a.m.— 600 block of Dream Island Road. Noise Complaint. Police responded to a noise complaint and discovered several juveniles drinking beer and jumping in the canal behind a home. Two boys also admitted to smoking marijuana, but the marijuana could not be found to charge them with possession. The owner of the house, also one of the boys’ mother, responded to secure the home.

Expensive dinner
1:09 p.m. — 200 block of Sands Point Road. Lost Property. A woman reported that she lost one of her diamond earrings during her trip from a restaurant to her hotel room.

No sleeping allowed
11:09 p.m. — 4700 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police woke up a man and a woman who were sleeping in their car at a beach access point and sent them on their way.

Sept. 20
Throw it back
10:20 a.m. — 100 block of GMD. Fishing Violation. Police cited a couple for keeping an undersized flounder as part of their catch. It’s the second time the couple has been cited for not throwing back undersized fish.

Sept. 21
Room without a view
9:45 a.m. — Intersection of GMD and Lyons Lane. Parking Violation. A man called to complain about a state truck blocking the line of sight from Lyons Lane to Gulf of Mexico Drive. The truck left soon after the complaint was issued.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder
11:04 a.m. — 3000 block of GMD. Code Enforcement. Police responded to a report of an abandoned refrigerator located on the road, which police classified as an “attractive nuisance.” The homeowner reported that the county was picking up the unit later in the week for trash collection. To lessen the ugliness of the refrigerator, police removed its doors and laid the unit on its side.

Lack of communication
11:43 a.m. — 400 block of GMD. Found Property. A Public Works department employee turned in a cell phone he found on Gulf of Mexico Drive.

Sept. 22
Broken promise
8:42 a.m. — 500 block of General Harris Street. Code Enforcement. A woman reported that she gave a construction company permission to access her property to clear the adjacent lot as long as they cleaned up afterward. However, she said they company left behind debris, damaged her driveway and tore down a fence on her property.

Sound sleeper
6:11 p.m. — 100 block of Lighthouse Point Drive. Suspicious Circumstance. A man reported that he heard a loud crash in the middle of the night, but did not get out of bed to investigate. In the morning, he discovered a plate-glass window in his living room had shattered but was still in place.

 

Sept. 23
Possible intruder
1:03 a.m. — 700 block of Spanish Drive South. Prowlers. A woman reported that while she was unpacking her things from a trip, she saw a large shadow outside the southeast corner of her blinds. She believes that someone may have been standing on her porch and fled when she yelled.
