Nov. 17
Clerk receives threat
7:41 p.m. — 400 block of Gulf of Mexico Drive (GMD)
. Disturbance. A gasoline-station clerk told police that a man who mistakenly took the price of a four-pack of beer for a six-pack told him he “was going to have a problem with him and Smith & Wesson when the store closed.” The man never returned to the gas station.

Nov. 19
Runaway rascals
1:47 p.m. — Intersection of GMD and General Harris Street
. Animal Found. A woman called to report two dogs running across Gulf of Mexico Drive. Police located a small black dog and a medium-sized tan terrier and secured them in his squad car. The owner was located and picked up the runaways at the station house.

Nov. 20
Just looking
11:02 p.m. — 6000 block of GMD
. Suspicious Person. Police stopped a man walking around a boat marina after hours. The man told police he was boat shopping at night, so he didn’t feel pressure to buy.

Nov. 22
Case of mistaken identity
12 a.m. — 600 block of Penfield Street
. Suspicious Vehicle. Police received two calls about two drunken men in a small boat in the canal behind their docks. A boat with people was detained for questioning, but it was the wrong boat.

Damage is done
12:51 a.m. — 800 block of Broadway
. Boat Accident. A powerboat and a sailboat ran into each other and got tangled while anchored off the shore of a restaurant. The owner of the sailboat had to cut his anchor line and anchor loose in order to free the boat. The powerboat owner promised to pay for the damages and lost anchor.

Missing mail
7:09 p.m. — 500 block of Lyons Lane
. Larceny. A man reported that someone stole the mail that his neighbor was collecting for him. The mail was left near an exterior side door, and the homeowner believes some men he saw walking around his property earlier in the day may have stolen it.

Supervised eviction
7:42 p.m. — 4400 block of Exeter Drive
. Public Service. Police stood by as a former tenant removed the last of his belongings because he was being
evicted.

Nov. 23
Writing’s on the window
12:14 p.m. — 7100 block of La Lenaire Drive. Vandalism. A property manager met police at a home on Jewfish Key, which had been entered by unknown people and used for a party. Police found beer bottles and condoms inside the home and wrote down the names that were written on the side of a dirty sliding-glass door. The owner of the home, who is moving down permanently in a few months, did not wish to press charges unless the break-ins continue.

Nov. 25
Blinded by the light
12:07 a.m. — 6700 block of GMD. Suspicious Vehicle. A woman reported a suspicious boat lurking in the canal and that a spotlight was being shined on docks. Police located the boat, whose operators were attempting to locate baitfish and cast nets. The light was reflecting off the water and onto mangroves and docks.
