March 9
Gregarious guests
2:40 a.m. — 1000 block of Longboat Club Road.
Noise Disturbance. A woman reported loud noises coming from a ninth-floor apartment. Police found a group of spring breakers, who promised to be quieter for the duration of their stay.

False advertising
9:22 a.m. — 4800 block of GMD.
Soliciting. A man reported a woman trespassing at his condominium and placing fliers on car windows. Police called the number on the flyer, and the woman promised to leave the area.

Caller i.d.
3:38 p.m. – 500 block of Bay Isles Road.
Fraud. A woman reported that she came close to wiring her “grandson” $3,250 to get out of jail in Canada, before calling her actual grandson on his cell phone and finding out her real grandson was just fine.

Writing’s on the wall
9:39 p.m. — 4000 block of GMD.
Vandalism. A convenience-store clerk reported that someone scrawled graffiti on the inside of the men’s bathroom stall door.

March 10
Grab bag
4:28 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD.
Found Property. A man reported that he saw someone throw a tan purse from a moving car. The man could not provide a description of the car.

March 11
Dark lark
3:32 a.m. — 6700 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. Police responded to a report of two suspicious people wearing hooded sweatshirts and walking along the beach with flashlights. The suspects could not be located.

March 14
Work order
1:21 p.m. — 3600 block of Fair Oaks Place.
Code Enforcement. While on water patrol, a police officer noticed a man cutting into the side of a home with an electrical saw. The officer docked his boat and advised the man he could not perform such work on a Sunday on this island.

Power tool
9:37 a.m. — 700 block of Lands End Drive.
Noise Disturbance. Police noticed a man using a gas-powered blower to blow leaves and debris from his front porch. A check of the town’s ordinance revealed such activity is allowed between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.

March 15
No one home
1:52 p.m. — 7100 block of Firehouse Road.
Suspicious Circumstance. A woman called police to report that a neighbor had not left her condominium in four days and advised that lights had been on and a radio had been playing. Police found the unit empty and secured it.

Too tired
2:55 p.m. — 2100 block of GMD.
Suspicious Circumstance. A woman said someone left a nasty note on her windshield, threatening to damage her BMW because she used her neighbor’s parking space for a few minutes to unload her groceries. When the woman called to apologize for using the space, she was cursed at and told her tires may be slashed. The report was requested in case damage is done to her car in the future.

Purse picked up
5:55 p.m. — 5400 block of GMD.
Found Property. A woman turned in a purse she found on a park bench in front of Portobello. Police located the owner of the purse, who said she had an asthma attack near the bench and left her purse there by accident.

March 16
On the prowl
7:01 a.m. — 400 block of GMD.
Trespassing. A woman was issued a trespass warning for continuing to come onto gas-station property and interfering with a cat for which the station’s owners and employees care. Police approached the woman, who told police she had been taking care of the cat for years and that it deserved to live on a farm. She told police she would take the cat home, but police told her to leave the cat and not return or she would be arrested.
