Assault, attempted grand theft: A man was driving when a woman walking in the middle of the road started waving her hands to flag him down. He pulled over and got out and she said she was broke down and asked to use his phone. He gave her his phone. Another man appeared and punched the victim in the eye and acted like he was going to jump in the man’s car. The man was able to pull him away from his vehicle. The two men struggled but then the second man and the woman got in a different car and fled, with the first man’s phone.

Destruction of property: A woman called the Sheriff’s Office because someone had knocked down the basketball hoop at the Oneco First Baptist Church, pulling it out of the concrete. She wasn’t sure who the suspect was, but said there had been problems recently with kids from the community getting on the church roof at night.

Malicious mischief: A woman called because a man tried to drive through her lawn to access the street. However, the truck got stuck in her yard and had to be pulled out by another truck. The woman said it’s not the first time the man has attempted the maneuver and he has been warned not to do it in the past. The woman thinks he is now being spiteful. The grass damage was estimated at $200 but she wasn’t sure if the sprinkler system had been damaged.

Malicious mischief: A man was parked in Walmart when three young men threw eggs at his car. The eggs hit the roof and splattered all over his car. The initial impact scratched his vehicle. He was able to get the license plate number of the men’s vehicle.
