The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

GREYHAWK LANDING
 Oct. 14

7:56 p.m. — 12400 block of Natureview Circle. Burglary to an unoccupied dwelling. The suspect entered the residence through an unlocked rear sliding door. Once inside, the suspect entered the master bedroom closet and lay down to sleep. The suspect was Baker Acted and capiased for burglary. The suspect was told never to return to the residence.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
 Reported Oct. 12

6:30 p.m. — 2401 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Ace Hardware). Uttering a forged check. The manager of the store reported a fraud. He was able to provide copies of the checks and pictures of the suspect. No video could be obtained because the video from Aug. 12, the date of the crime, already had been purged.

Oct. 14
12:30 a.m. — 8100 block of Nature’s Way. Criminal mischief. Unknown person(s) broke the front passenger side window of the victim’s vehicle. The lower half of the window was missing, and the top half was shattered. The vehicle did not appear to have been entered, and the glove box and center console still were closed.

RIVER WALK
 Oct. 9

11:30 p.m. — 10000 block of Hyancinth Place. Vehicle burglary. Unknown suspect(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through an unlocked door. Once inside, the suspect(s) used a screwdriver to pry the faceplate off the stereo. The suspect(s) then fled in an unknown direction. Nothing else, including the stereo, was reported missing.

SARASOTA
 Oct. 8

8 a.m. — The intersection of Tuttle Avenue and 75th Terrace East. Criminal mischief. The complainant parked his vehicle at the intersection, and when he returned, he found his front tires slashed.

SUMMERFIELD
 Oct. 13

9 p.m. — 6300 block of Yellowtop Drive. Armed auto burglary. Unknown person(s) smashed the back window glass of the victim’s truck. Once inside, the person(s) stole an iPod, camera, Coach calendar and armed themselves with the victim’s buck knife.

 

10 p.m. — 6300 block of Yellowtop Drive. Auto burglary. Unknown person(s) smashed the driver’s door window of the victim’s 2008 Volkswagon while it was parked in the driveway. Once inside, the person(s) damaged the dash and removed the victim’s GPS and XM Radio navigation system and a laptop computer. The total value of the stolen items is $2,000.

OTHER
 Oct. 9

5 p.m. — 6545 S.R. 70 E. (Braden River High). Burglary to an unoccupied conveyance. Unknown person(s) cut several locks to gain access to three utility trailers. Once inside the trailers, the person(s) stole various tools. The person(s) then fled in an unknown direction. The total value of the stolen tools is unknown at this time.

Oct. 13
3:15 p.m. — 9500 block of State Road 64 East. Battery. The suspect forcibly pushed the victim, causing his backpack to fall off his back and land in front of him. The victim stumbled over his backpack and hit the ground, landing on his side. The victim scraped his hand on way down as he tried to catch himself.

Oct. 15
12:56 a.m. — Mile marker 216 on northbound Interstate 75. Possession of cocaine. During a traffic investigation, a tube of cocaine was found in plain view on the passenger seat. The driver was the only occupant in the vehicle, and he was the registered owner. After being read his Miranda rights, the defendant stated the cocaine belonged to him. He was arrested for possession and AAA picked up the vehicle at the suspect’s request.
