The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
 March 18

5 p.m. — 12905 State Road 70 (Our Lady of Angels). Burglary. Unknown person(s) cut an opening into the side of the church storage shed. It’s unknown at this time if anything is missing from the shed. The person(s) did steal a lawn mower that was sitting next to the shed.
 
Reported March 19
12:57 p.m. — 8200 block of Miramar Way. Burglary to a vehicle. Unknown person(s) entered the unlocked vehicle through the rear passenger side door. Once inside, the person(s) stole about $305 in property before fleeing.
 
RIVER CLUB
 Reported March 17

4:15 p.m. — 6600 block of Oakbrooke Circle. Identity theft. The complainant reported unknown person(s) used his identity to open accounts with retailers to make purchases. The purchases were made and in some cases were discovered before the sale was finalized.
 
OTHER
March 18
 3:45 p.m.
— 3515 Morgan Johnson Road (Bashaw Elementary). Grand theft. The complainant left a large envelope containing personal checks made out to the school and about $600 in cash in the office. She left for the day, and when she returned the next morning, the envelope was missing. The complainant and other staff rummaged through the Dumpster to search for evidence. They found the envelope and checks but none of the cash.

3:45 p.m. — 2911 53rd Ave. E. (Wal-Mart). Simple battery. The victim stated she was in the process of leaving the store when the security devices in her new phones were activated by the store’s security system. The incident caused the victim to briefly hold up the line, which apparently upset the suspect. The victim indicated words were exchanged between she and the suspect. The suspect reportedly approached her and pushed her cart into her, causing the victim to fall backwards onto a bench seat. The suspect denied pushing the cart and admitted to just the verbal altercation. Wal-Mart’s surveillance video captured the incident.

Reported March 19
 11:25 a.m.
— 9501 S.R. 64 E. (Haile Middle School). Theft. The complainant reportedly hid the victim’s cell phone in a secure area on a shelf in the closet along with the other students’ backpacks, which were on the floor, while he took his FCAT test. When testing was over, the students were sent into the closet row by row to get their backpacks. When the victim went to get his cell phone from the secured area of the shelf it was missing.
 
March 20
 10:30 a.m.
— 5000 block of Lena Road. Grand theft/trailer. Unknown person(s) used the special trailer hitch from the victim’s GMC van to steal the trailer full of construction tools behind the victim’s shop.
 
March 21
 4:40 p.m.
— 7317 52nd Place E. (Bartlett Jewelers). Armed burglary to a structure. Unknown suspect(s) removed the lock from the front door. The suspect(s) smashed several display cases and removed about $98,915 worth of gold and jewelry. The suspect(s) then fled out the front door in an unknown direction by unknown means.
