The following information was gathered from incident and arrest reports obtained from the Manatee County Sheriff’s Office.

BRADEN WOODS
 Jan. 21

3 p.m. — 6200 block of 98th Street East. Criminal mischief. The complainant was watching the news inside his residence when he heard three gunshots. After the news was over, the complainant went outside to move his vehicle into the garage, at which time he noticed his passenger side rear window was broken. A used, small-caliber bullet was found just a few feet from where the vehicle was parked. The complainant stated the people who live in the house behind him have guns and sometimes shoot them in their backyard. The responding deputy went to the suspect’s residence and learned that the suspect’s son, who was in the house, had a warrant and was mentally unstable.

LAKEWOOD RANCH
 Reported Jan. 20

6 p.m. — The intersection of The Masters Avenue and Legacy Boulevard. Attempted abduction. An unknown Hispanic male driving an older model small black car reportedly drove up to the two juvenile victims while they were walking home from school. The suspect stopped his vehicle and said to them, “Do you want to go?” as he began to exit his vehicle. At the same time, another vehicle pulled up behind the suspect. The suspect then drove off, and the two juveniles ran home.

Jan. 21
11:50 a.m. — 5500 Lakewood Ranch Blvd. (Lakewood Ranch High). Simple battery. The suspect was arrested for simple battery after striking a fellow student while they were in the school’s gym. The responding deputy obtained a photo and a sworn affidavit from the victim.

PANTHER RIDGE
 Jan. 18

11 p.m. — 8100 block of Snowy Egret Place. Burglary. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s garage through an open garage door. Once inside, the person(s) entered both of the victim’s vehicles. A vehicle key and a key fob remote were taken from one of the vehicles.

Jan. 19
7:30 p.m. — 22400 block of 75th Avenue East. Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through one of the unsecured doors. Once inside, the person(s) stole a purse that was sitting in the passenger seat. The person(s) then fled the scene in an unknown direction by unknown means. The value of the purse and its contents is about $184.

7:30 p.m. — 22400 block of 76th Avenue East. Burglary to a conveyance. Unknown person(s) entered the victim’s vehicle through an unlocked door. Once inside, the person(s) stole a radar unit and a present from the passenger seat. The person(s) then fled the scene in an unknown direction.

 

RIVER CLUB
 Reported Jan. 20

3:10 p.m. — 6215 River Club Blvd. (Braden River Middle). Petit theft. The victim reported an unknown person stole her cell phone from her backpack while she was in gym class. The person then fled in an unknown direction.

Jan. 21
9 a.m. — 6215 River Club Blvd. (Braden River Middle). Information. A student reportedly punched, pushed and pulled the hair of another student in the parent loop area of the school. The victim didn’t fight back. She was looked at by the school nurse and released to her parents. The juvenile suspect was also looked at by the school nurse and released to her parents. In addition, the juvenile suspect was suspended from the school and a juvenile referral was completed.

RIVER PLACE
 Jan. 19

1:20 p.m. — 6800 block of 74th Street Circle East. Fraudulent use of credit card. The complainant reported his credit card had been used for several out-of-state charges. The complainant had a printout of the charges that had been made and the store names.

SARASOTA
 Jan. 19

12:01 a.m. — 3200 block of Tallevast Road. Fraudulent use of a credit card. The complainant reported an unknown person withdrew funds from his Regions Bank account without his knowledge or permission. The transactions were made at unknown locations. The total amount of the theft is $87.
