Copper stolen from Lakewood Ranch school

A custodian at Willis Elementary School today discovered someone had stolen copper wiring from the roof of the school.

A Manatee County Sheriff's Office report states unknown persons removed numerous feet of copper wire from the school's roof, sometime between late August and present. The missing wire was connected to the lighting rods along the entire roofline of the building.

The report states is is unknown whether the wire was removed at one time or during a series of thefts.
