Barbara L. Harrison: Meet the Artist and Opening Reception — takes place from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 1, at Longboat Key Center for the Arts, a Division of Ringling College of Art and Design, 6860 Longboat Drive S. Longboat Key resident and sculptor Barbara Harrison will meet-and-greet at the opening for her Arts Center exhibit, which runs until May 20. Harrison is known for her wall- and ceiling-suspended sculptures in solid brass. Call 383-2345.

Classic Corvettes on the Circle
— takes place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at St. Armands Circle Park. More than 200 Corvettes will be on display. Registration begins at 7:30 a.m., and judging begins at 10 a.m. An awards ceremony will take place at 3 p.m. Call 388-1554.

Preserve Cleanup


What: Help clean up the south end of Longboat Key with members of Save Our Seabirds and Sarasota Bay Watch. Meet at the Longboat Key Club Moorings Marina or at Quick Point Nature Preserve. Return around noon for a free lunch at Portofino Ristorante at the Longboat Key Club Marina Village. Lunch will be followed by presentations about protecting seabirds.
