Sarasota County commissioners will consider development regulations and permitting fees for kayak-tour operators during a regular meeting Wednesday, Oct. 9.

County staff will recommend a $500 annual fee per vessel for firms to operate kayak, canoe and other non-motorized water vessel tours out of Ted Sperling Park on the south end of Lido Key. The proposal has already elicited at least one protest email to commissioners.

Commissioners will also hold public hearings to consider changes to the county's transfer of development rights policy, and consider a variance request for a Siesta Key property.
