CLASSROOM SPOTLIGHT: Lakewood Ranch seniors

More than 400 seniors bid farewell to Lakewood Ranch High School during the school’s Commencement Ceremony June 2. The East County Observer caught up with several graduates of the Class of 2010 to see where they’re going to college next year.

Chantel Liburd, 17

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“State College of Florida. I chose it because of its convenience.”

What are you going to study?

“Pre-radiology.”

Dayna Hon, 18

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“I’m doing online school. I would much rather do other stuff other than going to school.” 

What are you going to study?

“I want to be a veterinary technician.”

Kelsie Flynn, 17

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“Santa Fe Community College. I chose it because of my major.”

What are you going to study?

“I want to be a zoo animal technician.”

Tristan L’Heureux, 18

Where are you going to college next year?

“The University of Alabama.”

What are you going to study?

“Viola performance.”

Jessica Hagood, 18

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“State College of Florida. I was a national officer for FCCLA, so I did a lot of traveling this year. I didn’t get to tour many colleges, so I decided to stay home until I find a college for me. I also got a job teaching the toddler class at Lakewood Ranch next year.”

What are you going to study?

“Elementary education and family and consumer sciences.”

Katherine Pyne

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“The University of South Florida. My sisters go there and my parents went there. It’s close to home. It’s a great school, and I’m going to walk on to the tennis team.”

What are you going to study?

“Pre-law.”

Samantha Bridges

Where are you going to college next year and why?

“Florida State University. It’s a really good school and I like the area.”

What are you going to study?
