Telling it like it is
7:40 p.m. — Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 216. Possession. The defendant was stopped for speeding during a drug interdiction. When asked if they could search his vehicle, the defendant stated, “You can’t search inside, but you can run a drug dog around the outside.” A drug detection canine alerted deputies on the exterior of the vehicle. The car was searched for illegal narcotics. A condom box was found between the front seats with a white powder inside. When asked what the powder was, the defendant responded, “That’s me going to jail and asking for a lawyer.” The powder tested positive for cocaine, and the defendant was arrested for possession of cocaine.
