The city of Sarasota will unveil a new utility statement in the next billing cycle that allows customers the option of going green.

Residents will be able to sign up for online billing, eliminating the city’s need to send paper bills through the mail.

“The new e-billing system is going to be a savings for the City reducing costs for postage, paper, envelopes and printing,” said Mike Healy, Utilities Billing Supervisor.

The e-bills can be paid online with a credit or debit cards. The city anticipates about 15% of its 18,000 water customers will sign up for e-billing, which would save the city $1,000 per month
