Air potatoes: They're round, brown and harmful to native plant species in Sarasota County. But, their days are numbered in North Water Tower Park.

The city of Sarasota and the Sarasota Bay Estuary Program have partnered to host the Air Potato Round-up Saturday, Oct. 19, at the park located at 4700 Vilma Avenue. The city has invited volunteers to participate in the invasive-species removal that includes lunch and prizes for the largest, smallest, oddest-looking and most air potatoes collected, according to a city news release.
